I provide policy advisory services to a wide range of groups including organisations, policymakers and government agencies. To this line of work, I bring my academic training, my experience creating policy for the Maltese Government, and my expansive career history in policymaking. Here’s how I can support your organisation:

  1. Policy Analysis and Development: I critically review existing policies and practices, assessing their effectiveness and alignment with current needs. This process involves a detailed examination of policy frameworks, outcomes, and impacts, providing a foundation for informed policy recommendations. Drawing on my experience and academic training, I collaborate with organisations, policymakers, and government agencies to develop robust policies, rooted in feminist and social justice principles. My approach always centres the communities most impacted, their needs and best interests, ensuring that new policies are responsive and effective to the challenges or inequalities they face.
  2. Feminist Social Research: My work is deeply informed by feminist and queer social research principles, which guide my approach to policy and research. This perspective ensures that the communities and people most impacted, including LGBTQI people, sex workers and migrant communities, are integral to the policy-making process, and that the policies address the specific needs and exclusions of these communities.

On a more personal note, I always endeavour to create policies that are based on people’s expressed needs and best interests I look for novel ways to engage collaborate and consult with people and the communities impacted, which I believe to be essential to effective policymaking.

Governance and Board Development: I partner with both international and national NGOs and non-profits to meticulously evaluate the needs and dynamics of their boards, crafting strategies that drive effective governance. My approach is designed to foster environments where difficult conversations become productive and decision-making processes are supported and understood across the organisation, ensuring governance structures are both inclusive and reflective of organisational values.
  2. Organisational Analysis: My methodology involves constructing a comprehensive overview of the people and processes within an organisation through participatory processes. This critical analysis helps identify growth opportunities and areas in need of attention or growth, laying the groundwork for targeted developmental strategies.
  3. Capacity-Strengthening: Recognising the diverse needs of organisations, I design and implement structures to facilitate collective understanding, learning and growth. This may include bespoke training programmes, workshops, nurturing leadership qualities, or the creation of new processes tailored to the specific needs of the team.
